Chapter 14

After the chupacabras were dead, the dust settled slowly and reluctantly, as if it relished the sudden burst of activity and yearned for more. Only stray pebbles dribbled down the cliff, which was now unrecognizable. Luke stood and shook himself, sending a new cloud of dust into the air. His magic spent, he was a weary, sag-eyed version of himself. Orson caught him before he fell and looped his arm around Luke’s waist, draping Luke’s arm over his broad shoulders. 9th Night—Funplex

Dhiar’s hands moved slowly, gliding across Anton’s fine clothing. First he eased his jacket off. Next, the waistcoat, followed by the cravat. The shirt was especially easy, more of an old-style garment, laces rather than buttons. Trousers, socks and garter, and at last the shorts underneath, unassuming but fine, a light white cotton with blue and orange vertical stripes. They were thick enough to be modest, thin enough to make out everything beneath.

Not that it was difficult. The vampire was especially well-endowed. When the shorts came off, it became perfectly clear to Evvin what he had been hiding. His eyebrows raised at the baron’s bouncing length. Even if he had been a bit aroused by the Incubus blood’s gifts and the sensual strip, it was no less impressive. I was on time for my meeting with my father, as I had been every time since the winter. We met on his private terrace, high up the side of the castle. Sometimes the castle itself seems like a mountain, as if it formed there by the forces of nature rather than by the work of human hands. From the terrace I could look down one side and over the gardens where I had seen Bear and Jorin practice in the spring.

Father’s gaze was for the horizon, so close to us on this side thanks to the mountains. I had often heard it said that no army would find a way to us over those mountains and through those trees, and I remarked on it.

“That is why they attack us by other means,” he replied. Continue reading The Prince’s Boy: Chapter 21

Chapter 13

Dawn and dusk were special times to the myth-folk, both in Fox Pass, Texas, and elsewhere. They were the in-between times–not quite day, not quite night. The myth-folk were almost mortal and almost eternal, not entirely human and not entirely magical, so their magic flickered a little brighter at sunrise and sunset, as if sensing a kinship with the changing light. New book! The Ontological Engine stand-alone by Vinnie Tesla

12,450 words

Vinnie Tesla’s  novella of mad science, libidinousness, and…ducks?? is now available as its own e-book!  Previously appearing in Up for Grabs and The Erotofluidic Age, The Ontological Engine has been singled out for praise by reviewers who called it “bizarre and hilarious,” “magnificent,” and “excellent.”

Daedalus Tesla just wants to be left to his scientific research. The problem is, his Ontological Engine can only be powered by human beings in a state of extreme sexual excitement. And once you have one or two of those strapped down in your laboratory, people do start to talk.

To make matters worse, the ontological forces he is studying are strange and unpredictable. And the line between experimenter and experiment may blur quite unexpectedly…

Read on for a hot and humorous excerpt:

…Two days later, Victor notified me that Miss Pertwee would be visiting for a further tour of the grounds.

“Alone?” I asked, surprised at his resource.

“I assured the vicar that my patron, the esteemed and wealthy Daedalus Tesla, would be in attendance at all times.”

With diligence, we completed several new, more robust Erotometers before the appointed time. We were upstairs in time to receive our guest, who, removed from her father’s baleful penumbra, proved herself to be a reasonably charming young lady, bright and warm of manner, albeit with a sprinkling of freckles about her nose that bespoke an unseemly degree of exposure to sunlight.

After a short time, I excused myself, citing pressing work, and admonished the youths to be on their very best behavior.

8th Night—Edge

“Evvin, you look so cute in glasses.”

The words from Dhiar took Evvin by surprise, and his cheeks turned a slight pink. “Thanks… um…” He quietly pulled his solid black glasses off, sliding them into the soft case and setting it aside.

Addressing the unspoken question, Dhiar motioned with a flourish of the wrist to the handsome blond man beside him. Handsome, and very pale. Continue reading Incubus Tales: Chapter 8

I woke as Bear was carrying me across the courtyard, cradled in his arms.

“Lie still,” he said.

“I have little other choice,” I replied, “given how you are holding onto me. What happened?”

“You’ll remember in a little while. Or maybe you won’t. Had a bit of Footsoldier’s Ease and it can make you loopy.”

“You didn’t answer my question.” I tensed now, starting to worry. “Am I lame? Have I lost a limb?” Continue reading The Prince’s Boy: Chapter 20

Chapter 12

Allison knelt on his unmade bed and pulled off her shirt. Her white, lacy bra showed off her lightly tanned skin. Luke whistled. “You don’t waste any time, do you, girl? You ain’t got customers to get back to today, you know.”

“I know,” she said. “But you have to hunt. And I don’t want to lose my nerve. C’mon, satyr-boy–” Continue reading Capricious: Chapter 12

7th Night—Polite Dance Song

Dhiar sipped at a mixed drink, full of sweetness and fruit. He could barely even taste the alcohol, which was the best way to have it; no-one except a real alcoholic—or a connoisseur, as the term tended to be softened—actually wanted to taste the booze. It was all the same to him, tasting it or not tasting it, but on the whole he preferred the fruity bouquet. He had a sweet tooth, and fruit satisfied it much more perfectly than most confection.

The festivities were nothing short of marvellous. It was one of the many and frequent holidays celebrated in the city, and some of the vampires had decided to throw a ball for it. Obscure holiday, much like the Yuletide in sentiment and decking, and so Dhiar had thrown on a green and red ensemble, mostly crushed velvet and dainty foppish fare.
