There was no point in trying to take in the scenery from a steam coach. The carriage rattled along in a shroud of smoke at high speed, but very low comfort. Each passenger fought his own private battle with motion sickness. The window seats were given to those who lost.

The anthology, like the cohort of authors and staff of Circlet Press itself, features characters who identify as lesbian, gay, genderqueer, bisexual, trans, and heterosexual. The erotic activities expressed within the stories cover a similar variety, though it’s not an identical match: a gay male author can write a lesbian witch who has sex with a gender-changing demon. What label do you put on that? We call it… superlative speculative erotica.
Here’s a little taste of the very first story: Annabeth Leong’s “Bete Noir:”
For a while, Beauty and I made each other invincible. She relished every beastly part of me, and so I found myself trusting her with anything and everything—even secrets I hid while I was still a lady.
This week we’ll be running a daily excerpt from the five books of our Gay Romance Bundle. Up first is Chapter Six of H. B. Kurtzwilde‘s Chocolatiers of the High Winds, wherein we get a look at the lead characters, Mayport and Thiervy, their airship, Bessie, and the tension between desire and secrecy that tears at them.
Chapter Six: Deconstruction
Thiervy made every use of Cully’s expertise to hurry work along on the Process. The work hours were exhausting, and they had little to offer in the way of comforts. After such a show of professionalism, Mayport could do nothing but go ahead with his plans. Even with that, he had to navigate the misgivings coming at him from all sides.
“I don’t want to seem disrespectful,” Thiervy said in a nervous tone.
Our third enormous five-book bundle is out at last!
A gay globe-hopping steampunk swashbuckler (with chocolate). A taut detective tale of murder and hidden identities, set in the sleazier districts of cyberspace. A contemporary college student in love with a shapeshifter. A Mongolian shaman navigating the modern leather underground. Anything is possible in a Circlet M/M romance, and only thing certain is that it will be scorching hot.
For a limited time Circlet Press is offering five of its wildest Male/Male erotic romance books for the price of one:
Chocolatiers of the High Winds by H. B. Kurtzwilde, a 2013 Lambda Literary Award finalist, is a Steampunk story about two old school friends with a special bond, an airship, and a confectionary empire, centered on a Confederate south that never was. A rollicking adventure, full of derring-do, vivid characterization, and, of course, lots of sex.
Simulacrum by Rian Darcy is an ingeniously plotted Cyberpunk detective story about an LA cop and a programmer hunting a serial killer through the sex clubs and false identities of virtual reality.
Faewolf by D. M. Atkins and Chris Taylor is the raw, steamy, and emotionally intense story of a Santa Cruz college student and the lupine shapeshifter to whom he feels an uncontrollable attraction.
Leather Spirit Stallion, by Raven Kaldera, a 2015 Lambda Literary Award finalist, is about a modern day Mongolian shaman in California. After he uses his shamanic abilities to save the life of a young man, they enter into a passionate BDSM relationship.
Charming, edited by Darcy and Jen Levine, a 2016 Lambda Literary Award finalist, is a collection of modern gay retellings, continuations, or reinterpretations of traditional fairy tales.
All five books are full of bold characters, exciting adventure, and intense sex, and the bundle is only available for a limited time!
You can also order the print edition directly from Createspace!
Fans of Circlet Press know what it’s like working here… or think they do. It’s one big phantasmagorical orgy with vampires and shapeshifters and ice demons and androids and humans all engaging in a never-ending stream of combinations. Always willing, always fun, always hot. The reality of creating our stories may be different, but you don’t want to hear about that, so we’ve created a collection that feeds the fantasy. Here’s where our ideas come from if we were actually living inside of a Circlet Press story and now you get to join in.
Here people have to live out the adventures before they can write about them, whether supernatural or science fiction, and with that special kick that you’ve come to expect from Circlet. After reading Like a Circlet Editor, you’ll never read you other Circlet books in the same way. What if they were really true, too?

Once a tavern historically popular amongst pirates, the Sea Turtle Inn is now an enchanting coastal Floridian hotel and bar that boasts stunning gothic architecture, scenic views, and a nightlife that can best be described as, well… unique. Accomplished paranormalist Andrew Wells has been hired by the current owner to investigate claims that the Sea Turtle Inn’s rooms are haunted by the unruly, restless, and randy spirits of Black Roger and Dirty Davy, two rival pirates rumored to have murdered one another over a woman. But the truth story behind the pirates’ tale and the degree to which the Sea Turtle Inn is actually haunted turns out to be more complicated than centuries’ old rumor and popular reputation would imply.
As he thoroughly investigates each room with reports of poltergeist activity and possession, Andrew finds himself more intrigued by the inn’s enigmatic proprietor, Davis. After inheriting the inn from family, maintaining the Sea Turtle Inn and keeping its staff and guests has been Davis’ sole focus, leaving little time for self-contemplation or a personal life. But it is precisely Davis’ personal secrets that Andrew is drawn to most. And it is resolving those secrets that may prove key to finally putting the tumultuous and potentially dangerous spirits to rest.
Gressive Press, an imprint of Circlet Press dedicated to sex-positive science fiction and fantasy outside the gender binary, is proud to present Sea Turtle Inn– a transgender, gay, paranormal romance by H.B. Kurtzwilde, the LAMBDA Literary Award nominated author of Chocolatiers of the High Winds.

This gay steampunk romance follows the globe-trotting adventures of young Mayport Titus, the sole scion of the Titus Chocolate fortune. Mayport’s father, an adventurer and entrepreneur, established the intercontinental chocolate trade using sugar from India, cacao from South America, and a factory in New Amsterdam, before he and his wife were lost when their airship went down over the ocean and left Mayport orphaned. Now determined to make his own way in the world, Mayport attempts to resurrect his father’s old airship, The Dutch Process, with the help of Thiervy, an intimate school friend who happens to be both a pilot and an engineer. Together Mayport and Thiervy not only rebuild the ship, and revolutionize the moribund chocolate industry, they bring a new way of doing things to the world.
But their partnership will be tested. Love between men is not sanctioned in society, punishable by death for airshipmen, and kept behind closed doors in the genteel Confederate society that they enter when centering their new business in the American South. And both men are haunted by their fathers’ legacies of madness and violence. What sacrifices will Mayport make to protect those he loves? And what will he find when he finally flies his ship to that worn spot on his father’s old wooden globe?
Chocolatiers of the High Winds is a rollicking romance in classic adventuring style, punctuated with passion and sweetened with chocolate. The ebook edition collects all 50 chapters of the web serial that ran on circlet.com from 2010-2011, and also includes one bonus chapter featuring a new erotic scene between Mayport and Thiervy… and more chocolate!
