Gay Romance Bundle Teasers #5: Charming

This is the fifth and final day of our series of juicy excerpts from the five volumes of our giant Gay Romance Bundle.

Charming, edited by Jen Levine and Rian Darcy, is a collection of eight modern gay fairy tales.  Our excerpt is the first third or so of Nightingale by Evey Brett:

Nightingale

The Emperor of Jazz always played as if death were on his heels, but it was I, Night, who became death’s accompanist.

During our gigs Emp’s fingers traveled up and down the piano keys, pulling out impossible chords and intricate riffs no other man alive could. I kept pace on my tenor saxophone, and together we had the musical world at our feet.

At night, our musical intimacy turned physical. Those fingers played my body the way they did the piano, tickling the insides of my thighs, stopping to stroke the length of my cock and teasing me until I begged him to let me come.

Gay Romance Bundle Teasers #4: Leather Spirit Stallion

LeatherSpiritStallion_cover_750Every day this week we’re posting a long, sexy excerpt from one of the books in the Gay Romance Bundle. Today’s is Leather Spirit Stallion by Raven Kaldera.

This is the first chapter, in which we meet Erlik, a Mongolian-tradition shaman, college student and gay leather top, and get to see him pursue his social life.

CHAPTER 1

The boots, as he pulled them on, were new to his feet, although not new themselves. They were military tanker’s boots, black leather with buckles. He had scammed them off of Chaz, who had money and was continually buying fancy pieces of black leather and then getting bored with them. The pants, too, were black leather, found in the local Salvation Army a year ago. The belt had been his older brother’s until he had stolen it, just before leaving his parents’ house forever.

Aside from that, the rest of his clothing didn’t resemble anything that someone might wear to a fetish bar. Over a simple sleeveless black T-shirt he shrugged on and tied his black silk del, the traditional Mongolian coat with fur trim. He had stitched it himself, scavenging the fur from an abandoned coat in the trash, learning to embroider the traditional patterns onto it. Unlike his ceremonial del, which was a feast of bright colors, the black del was more demure with embroidery only in indigo and white. The running horse tracked across his sleeves, his spirit animal in silver-gray. The broad silk sash of cobalt blue went around his waist and tied, then he buckled the leather belt around it. He picked up his sheath knife and hesitated for a moment, then tucked it into his boot. Wearing it at the waist was more traditional, but discreet was better; he didn’t want it confiscated by a bouncer. He picked up his handmade horsehair whip and fastened that to his belt instead. Read that message, boys.

Gay Romance Bundle Teasers #3: Faewolf

faewolf-cover-iconsizeEach day this week we’re running a free excerpt from one of the volumes in our ginormous Gay Romance Bundle. Today’s is from D. M.  Atkins and Chris Tayor’s Faewolf.

This is Chapter Nine, where Kiya White Cloud, a University of Santa Cruz undergrad, and Brian Fenwick, his biology TA , finally get together.  What Kiya doesn’t realize is that Brian, unlike most biology grad students, is a shapeshifter–and more wolf than man.

Chapter Nine

Kiya was surprised at how far from campus Brian drove. Most students kept close to the bus lines, on the west side or downtown when they could. This was a bit remote. It felt like being alone in the wilderness even if it was only a few miles from campus. How could Brian live like this?

Brian pulled up beside his cabin, a shed-like structure nestled among the redwoods, and turned off the truck. “Let me get the door,” he warned as he got out.

Kiya did as he was told, waiting for Brian to walk around the truck and open the door. Kiya really thought that he could have done it himself, but he liked being taken care of.

Gay Romance Bundle Teasers #1: Chocolatiers of the High Winds

CompassThis week we’ll be running a daily excerpt from the five books of our Gay Romance Bundle. Up first is Chapter Six of H. B. Kurtzwilde‘s Chocolatiers of the High Winds, wherein we get a look at the lead characters, Mayport and Thiervy, their airship, Bessie, and the tension between desire and secrecy that tears at them.

Chapter Six: Deconstruction

Thiervy made every use of Cully’s expertise to hurry work along on the Process. The work hours were exhausting, and they had little to offer in the way of comforts. After such a show of professionalism, Mayport could do nothing but go ahead with his plans. Even with that, he had to navigate the misgivings coming at him from all sides.

“I don’t want to seem disrespectful,” Thiervy said in a nervous tone.

“There is one small problem,” the Captain said, as he took us aside. “My hull-repair crew is now using each and every pressure suit, save one. I shall have to ask the Major to make haste, to return so that Milady may the use it for her share of the necessary task. There is not a moment to be lost.”
“Nonsense,” I said, regarding the huge bulk of the roomy pressure suits, with their oversized domes. “The two of us will share the same outfit. The Major may look over my shoulder and supervise my movements.”
“Milady!” exclaimed the Major. “Such a thing has never been done. The strenuousness of the operation—”
“If I may boast,” I said, “there has never been a question of my fitness for physickal endurance. As to the issue of precedent, I daresay we shall shatter many records before we return to the Earth.”
How prophetic those words!
“Perhaps it might be done at that,” said our practical Captain, eyeing the bulky suit. “Bit of a squeeze. But it could be done.”
I said, “Captain, I take it the suit itself is sufficient to protect us from the vacuum and ionising radiation?”
He nodded in the affirmative.
“To make room inside the suit for two, we cannot allow our garments to encumber us,” said I, removing my jacket and corset and bidding the Major to do the same with his gold-braided blue uniform. “Come, Major—as the Captain says, there is not a moment to be lost. Unfasten those huge buttons!”
At this the Captain blushed. He represented a generation unprepared for the societal changes which accompanied our rapid technological process. I admit to feeling meanly amused by his embarrassment as I stripped off blouse and bodice and corset. I waited till he excused himself before I divested myself of bloomers, pantalettes, etc. and stood naked and shameless before the Major.
For the Major, I had no sympathy whatsoever. After we completed our tasks, I would have him. Or I would know why not.
“Given our shared body heat in the pressure-suit,” remarked I, “we are more than likely to perspire profusely. May I suggest, Major, that you remove that union suit? That’s it. And what is that you’re wearing under it? And there’s still more under that? Good heavens! Off with it, Major. All of it.”
It took some coaxing, but soon he was like myself, clad only in his skull and mermaid tattoos and his neatly matched piercings—and, I could not help but noticing, the rings like Saturn’s still stacked neatly about the root of his manhood. I was touched by this oddly sentimental gesture.
Yes, Reader, I did waggle my bottom enticingly in his face, as I clambered into the suit he already occupied. Now we both faced the same way, looking forward through the transparent dome of the great helmet. And even before I had slipped my legs into place before his, and leaned back into the muscled expanse of his chest, I could feel Saturn’s rings rise to greet me.
