Call for Submissions: Apocalypse Sex: Love at the End of the World
What would you do if you had only 24 hours to live?
Maybe aliens have taken over the planet and are massacring the human race; conversely, maybe humans have invaded an alien planet–but are losing. Perhaps you’re contemplating ending your own world, or are convinced your life is going to end–whether through self-harm, a major lifestyle change, or something else. Maybe a fatal disease is exterminating your species, or nuclear war has broken out.
And maybe it’s a false alarm, but how could you possibly know that in advance?
24 hours left to do everything you’ve wanted to: Would you make love to the person you’ve always secretly cared for? Have a rendezvous with a stranger on the street? Explore your wildest fantasies, or get back to the basics one last time?
The possibilities are limitless within this basic theme. Don’t forget the sci-fi/fantasy aspect we always look for, but bring your sexiest ideas too. Come up with some original plots, keep ‘em captivating and steamy, and have some fun!
Submission details:
Word Count Preferred: 2000-7000 (up to 10K will be considered)
Deadline: January 15th, 2010
Submissions must include mailing address, phone #, & email ON THE MANUSCRIPT.
No multiple submissions (pick ONE story to send us, not three).
No simultaneous submissions.
Originals only, no reprints (unless the place was truly obscure and no longer available).

Pay is $25 for inclusion in the ebook anthology, an additional $25 if book goes into print or POD. Author retains all other rights.
Submissions sent to other addresses or editors than the one specified above will not be considered. Standard manuscript formatting rules apply even if sending as an attachment (MS Word .doc or .rtf preferred). Please note that this means your name, address, and email contact must appear on the manuscript itself and not simply in your email message.
All stories must include explicit sexuality and erotic focus. For more details on our editorial preferences and other requirements, see the general submission guidelines on circlet.com (http://www.circlet.com/?page_id=5) before you submit. We highly recommend reading the guidelines, especially the “do not send” list, to increase your chances of sending us something we’ll love. Try to avoid cliches. Fresh and direct language is preferred to overly euphemistic. Sex-positive, please, no rape/nonconsensuality/necrophilia or other purposefully gross topics. We do not publish horror.

Would you say that the “end of the world” part is more important, or the “in 24 hours” part? Would a story that takes place in the context of an ongoing apocalypse fit the theme of the collection, or must it be Apocalypse Right Fucking Now ?

Thanks for asking this! This is important, actually: the 24 hours part is NOT so important–it’s really more about the end of the world, and now that you mention it, the world might take longer than 24 hours to end! Excellent point.
Really, I’m pretty flexible with what writers submit, as long as they keep 3 important things in mind: (1) the whole sci-fi/fantasy aspect and (2) the erotic aspect Circlet stands for, and (3) the end of (some kind of) a world.
